[br]The award-winning Project Reality Team is proud to announce the official release of Project Reality: BF2 v1.9!We want to thank you all for your ongoing support as our work continues and Project Reality enters the 22nd year of its development. A few months ago, we reached the milestone of 400,000 unique active players since 2020, including over 100,000 new players since the last major update. Now, Project Reality is well on its way to reaching half a million active players in the third decade of the 21st century. The development is definitely not slowing down and we keep making plans for future updates. But before you start wondering what comes after v1.9, first see more details of what has been released just now!Project Reality:BF2 v1.9Our 42nd major update features the Syrian Arab Army as the 29th faction in Project Reality. This update replaces the placeholder MEC forces on our classic Syrian maps and introduces two new ones: one Syrian and one from a completely different theater. Of course you may expect a wave of various completely new assets as well as variations of those already present in the game. With all this new content, our depiction of the early Syrian Civil War experience is given a new depth and immersion. As always, the update also includes a variety of fixes and improvements, including some graphical changes to shaders. A more complete list of key features and a full changelog can be found below.[/br]Enjoy![br][/br]Syrian Arab ArmyThe Syrian Arab Army was the missing piece in many of our maps featuring the Syrian civil war. Until now those maps used the MEC as placeholder and did not feature any of the unique assets the SAA has in their arsenal. Not only do we bring the fully featured faction to the existing maps, but also bring a new map Talbisah that will feature both the AAS and INS gamemode.
New vehiclesOutside of all the new vehicles features for the Syrian faction, the update also includes some new toys for our existing armies. This incl...
While we are all waiting for the next Project Reality update, everyone on our Discord server was given a chance to ask as many questions as they liked to the Project Reality Team! Out of roughly 300 questions, we have answered about 100 (some of which were merged for clarity). It is the community that makes PR unstoppable. Every member of the Project Reality Team comes from the community, and we know how important open communication is. Participation in this Q&A was entirely voluntary, and all answers reflect our honest, personal perspectives. The following PR Team members answered your questions this time:[R-DEV]Suchar — Lead developer[R-DEV]ANW1173 — Artist (3D)[R-DEV]Ason — Mapper, Artist (3D)[R-DEV]camo — Artist (Cinematics)[R-DEV]papadanku — Programmer (Shaders)[R-DEV]Senshi — Website Administrator[R-DEV]Unicode — Mapper, Composer[R-CON]CAS_ual_TY — Artist (UI), Programmer[R-CON]Krayt — Artist (3D)[R-CON]PotatoLord — Artist (3D)[R-COM]Har — Argentinian Forces Faction Lead[R-COM]Kalash — Chilean Forces 1978 Faction Lead[R-COM]M.MCC — Iranian Forces Faction Lead[R-COM]Mussum — Brazilian Forces Faction Lead[R-COM]bad_nade — Support technician[R-COM]PvtNewb — Support technician---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Question 1RutekHow do you currently view the overall state of the PR community - both in terms of player activity and general atmosphere? Do you feel the community is growing, holding steady, or declining?[R-DEV]SucharSince we released PR v1.8 last year, we have had 100,000 unique new players. For an over 20 year old mod this is quite remarkable. One thing I would say we are lacking is one central hub accomodating new players with a strong leadership, like SBOON. We need more active leaders within the community who could take care of that and continue this mission. As for the atmosphere, we are planning to launch a new system for servers in an attempt to ease tensions within the PR communi...
Community UpdateAs some of you might remember, last year we had to share concerning details regarding the situation of Project Reality. Our financial struggle left us no choice but to start a Kickstarter campaign to sustain the development of the game. Today, we can proudly declare that our goal has been reached. We are very grateful to our dedicated community, especially everyone who has donated or will do so in the future.
As we mentioned last year, reaching our goal would not only ensure the survival of Project Reality but also open new possibilities for the team to work on new and unique content. Today, we finally have the opportunity to share some of that content with you.
Space BattlesProject Reality can into Space! During the last few years, we have repeatedly received requests from the community, asking for a less realistic gamemode with more intensive combat. We decided to listen to your feedback and we are now releasing Space Battles! In this new mode, players will fight over a giant spaceship orbiting a habitable planet in the Andromeda galaxy. We have worked tirelessly to give you distinctive weapons, such as TAR-5000S by [R-DEV]ANW1173, as well as WIST-10000 and QSZ-92000 by [R-COM]M.MCC. You will be able to enjoy new weapons on the Andromeda map and spaceship made by [R-DEV]Ason.
DonbasAside from Space Battles, we are also proud to announce the release of Donbas. It is a brand new map, set in modern-day eastern Ukraine. The map, together with multiple new assets, was designed by [R-DEV]Ason, while [R-CON]Kenzzan further enriched the map's eastern ukrainian atmosphere.
Unfortunately, with the end of winter, our Medelivka seasonal map has to go. We are certain it offered plenty of fresh experience and hopefully, you will soon be able to fight in its trenches and snowy forests all year round! As usual, all the new content is accompanied by various bug fixes and quality of life improvements. For more information, please feel free to join us on our public foru...
